VIRGIN MONEY

UK WIDE

PROJECT

Project Management, Principal Designer and Building Surveying services across the estate

DESCRIPTION

Reid Mitchell supports Cushman & Wakefield under their Property Services Agreement with Virgin Money, delivering Project Management, Principal Designer and some Building Surveying services across the UK wide retail and office estate.

The main services provided to Virgin Money, and some recent projects, include:

  • New Manchester store – The bank consolidated their activities in Manchester into a new store over four storeys in Market Street, Manchester. The store was to the first implementation of the new design concept, which included the provision of co-working and collaboration space for customers and small start-ups in support of the traditional banking activities.
  • Refurbishment of Edinburgh store – Having previously delivered the new consolidated store in Edinburgh’s George Street for Clydesdale Bank, this further project took the existing store and brought it up to date to align with the Virgin Money design concept.
  • Refurbishment of Queen Street, Glasgow – To support the bank’s departure from their existing HQ on St Vincent Street, we were instructed to undertake a complete refurbishment of the former Virgin Money lounge on Queen Street, Glasgow . Works entailed the full strip-out across three floors, creation of the retail banking area on the ground floor, co-working/lounge areas on the first floor and meeting space/back-office functions on the second floor.
  • Signage Rebrand Programme –  Reid Mitchell also assisted in the signage rollout for Clydesdale Bank and Yorkshire Bank stores nationwide, transitioning them to the new Virgin Money branding. This effort, completed in Spring 2021, successfully brought all stores under a single, unified brand. The programme of works involved managing both internal and external signage installation across 165 stores throughout the entire UK.
  • Building Condition – We have completed a full building condition assessment across the bank’s estate using a proprietary survey tool. The outputs support the Scoping and management of the annual spend on fabric repairs projects to meet PPM requirements across the estate.
  • General Refurbishment and Fabric Repairs – Management and administration of annual spend across a series of refurbishment and fabric repair projects.

Donald Reid and Mark Gough have been working with Virgin Money (and predecessor Clydesdale Bank) for over 10 years with Reid Mitchell and in their previous roles.
